During the process of learning about these 3 well-known dictators who were featured in the book Refugee, I have learnt many very interesting facts about all 3 of these dictators, especially the first 2 because they have the most information. I find it interesting that Hitler had to shave some of his moustache in order to survive gas and also what I find amazing is Fidel Castro's 7-hour speech.
Things these people share in common includes their cruel treatment of people, especially Adolf Hitler and Bashar al-Assad, their dictatorship and that they feature in the book Refugee. So what did you learn about these people?

For today, I read chapter 4 (Josef) of the book Refugee. This book focuses on 3 children from 3 countries; which are Cuba, Syria and Germany. Josef is a Jewish boy from Germany but he is living at the time of Adolf Hitler's rein, who is against Jewish people. While Josef's father has just left a concentration camp, he and his family have plans to go to Cuba. But has Josef just messed everything up for his family? I am also going to write about a pretend situation where New Zealand is in crisis, in which most people have to move out, and what my plans of what I am going to pack in my suitcase and why.

Clothing: I have chosen clothing as and obvious choice because their will certainly be circumstances where my clothes are going to become dirty, so I will have to change them. I will bring multiple pairs such as pants, shirts, singlets, jackets/jumpers/jerseys, shoes, hats, underwear, and also a hair comb.

Money: I will certainly have to have money, and for 2 main reasons:
To buy tickets.
To buy extra essentials such as food, more clothing and other essentials when the time comes to accommodate.

Passport: This is essential if I am to leave my country, and to enter another country. It covers my identity and helps me to be recognised, and it says what nation I am a citizen of.

Phone or Ipad, preferably phone: A phone or iPad is essential if I am booking for accommodation/flights or contacting people from other countries.

Toothpaste and Toothbrush: This is essential for a hygienic lifestyle, because it keeps your teeth clean and your breath smelling fresh. I haven't visually included it, but deodorant is necessary.

Chocolate or other treats: I have chosen chocolate or other tasty snacks because of the simple reason that you want to have something delightful to eat on an occasion. I really like chocolate.

Cat: A pet should certainly be included because it needs to be cared for by it's owners, however a flight might become extremely stressful for my cats because they will have no concept of what is going on. They will also take a long time to adjust to the foreign country.

During the process of learning the process of researching about Syria, I learnt many interesting subjects on Syria, and the ones that I prefer to learn about the most are the 5 fabulous facts, the food and the facts about Citadel of Aleppo, a very old castle. I personally do not like Syria as much as other countries, because of it's violent history and ongoing conflicts, and because it is not a safe place to live, especially if you protest. I would much rather consider Cuba or Germany if I had to live in one of the places featured in the book Refugee.

During the process of researching about Cuba I have personally learnt many different subjects on Cuba, including it's flag, currency, population and landmarks, and many more. For me the best part about the task was learning about the 5 facts because they are some the aspects of countries that I always want to learn first and most importantly, and also the popular Cuban landmark of El Capitolio. What I like about Cuba includes the landmarks, warm winter temperatures, which are about the temperatures of New Zealand's summers, and also I was amazed at how long Fidol Castro was in the president position for so long. What I don't like about Cuba is the extremely hot humid summers, that in their history they were communist.

Germany country study

During the process of creating this poster I have learnt many interesting and essential facts on the topic of Germany. The areas of research I have chosen include famous people, well-known landmarks and other relevant facts around Germany such as population, currency and national leaders. It was indeed fun and interesting to dig into Germany's essential facts and I enjoyed the process and making the flag was fascinating because I chose 3 colours that matched the stripes on the German flag and drew a square using the polyline tool on google draw. The hardest part was most definititeley drawing the Brandenburg gate, especially the 3 green horses seen on it's highest point. However, the most I could do for the horses was 4 points. I personally like Germany for it's language, because I think foreign languages are interesting, and also the facts such as population and currencies, as I enjoy learning these facts. What I dislike about Germany is mild due to the fact it is no longer present, and that is the period during World War 2, where Adolf Hitler was very cruel to many citizens, especially if they were Jewish.

The poster, shown below, visually represents the values of a large example number, ranging from ones to millions. The two represents the ones category, as there are 2 single units, the 0 represents the tens category, because there are non tens. There are 3 hundreds in the hundreds, 8 thousands in the thousands, 60,000 in the next catalogue, 700,000 in the next, and finally 4 million.

Maori Gods

WALT: write to describe how Nga Atua Maori relate to us.

There are multiple Maori gods, which are Ranginui, Papatuanuku, and their six children, Tangaroa, Tane Mahuta, Haumia, Tu, Rongo, Ruaumoko and Tawhirimatea. Each one is unique and has their own significant abilities. The one that this text will be focusing on is Tane Mahuta. The god I seem to share some relevancy to is Tane, because  he is the god of forests and nature, which I personally think should be protected if necessary. I  also relate to most of these gods, due to emotions. For example, Rongo-Ma-Tane represents happiness, or joy because he is the god of peace. Tu, the god of war, fittingly, represents anger. Tangaroa would represent becoming calm, and possibly recovering from a moment of anger.

Respect description

Respect, or Kia Tika is one of the many positive values displayed in our school, and elsewhere. Respect is the act of considering someone/thing and treating them appropriately.

The qualities of being respectful include using positive and polite language, remaining silent whilst others are speaking, treating stationary with affection, having polite manners; also verbally (e.g. no swearing, hitting, speaking politely). Respect can even be displayed in moments of anger, even to it can prove difficult. 

Respect should be encouraged outside school, as well as inside. For example, greeting parents and other people with polite manners, and also to become silent when they are talking. Another way to show respect is to do as you are commanded (e.g. teacher), because it shows that you are capable of doing the task respectively. How do you perceive respect?
